Use more of what you generate
A solar panel system without battery storage typically achieves 30–40% self-consumption — meaning most of what you generate is exported at a fraction of what you'd pay to import it back. A correctly sized battery brings self-consumption to 70–85%, dramatically improving your return on investment.
We supply and install Tesla Powerwall, Fox ESS, SolaX and SolarEdge battery systems — all established brands with strong UK technical support, app-based monitoring and firmware that is actively maintained. We do not install battery systems we can't fully support post-installation.
Sizing matters more than brand
The most common mistake in battery storage is under-sizing. A 5kWh battery on a 6kW solar system will fill by midday on a summer day and export the rest anyway. We review your generation data and consumption profile before recommending a capacity — and we'll tell you honestly when a larger battery won't pay back the premium.
Octopus Agile and time-of-use tariffs
Modern battery systems can be programmed to charge from the grid during off-peak periods (typically 00:30–04:30 on Octopus Agile) when electricity can cost 5–7p/kWh, then discharge during peak periods at 25–35p/kWh. This "grid arbitrage" function is included in the setup and commissioning of every system we install.
New install or retrofit?
We install battery storage alongside new solar systems and as retrofits to existing solar installations — including systems originally installed by other companies. Retrofit compatibility depends on your existing inverter; we'll advise during the survey whether an AC-coupled or DC-coupled battery is the right solution.
Certification for retrofits
Battery retrofits to existing professionally installed solar systems are themselves eligible for installation certification. We handle the paperwork and lodge the certificate on your behalf.
